Nero D’avola and Moscato Giallo
GROWING
Soil Type: Rocky, volcanic soils with a complex mix of mineral-rich Ironstone, Dolerite Green Basalt, and Jasper
Mt Camel Vineyard of the Chalmers family in Heathcote (VIC)
WINEMAKING
This is a blend of Nero D’avola & Moscato Giallo.
Each variety had its own fermentation process in stainless steel.
Both varieties fermented using Dane's refined semi-liquid carbonic technique, allowing good extraction of flavor and phenolics while keeping the wine lean, rather than too tannic or “fruit forward".
Racked once and bottled by gravity.
WHAT'S GOOD?
Another brand new cuvée for 2022.
A complex yet easy drinking light(er) red with great texture.
Exceptionally balanced, with great harmony between fruit, minerality, and acidity.
Note from the winemaker:
"I’m a firm believer in the saying “The only thing permanent is Change” and with that in mind, I have worked hard to create these new wines. I like to approach my winemaking like anything else I approach in life and that is to keep things moving forward, continually learn, and continually evolve.
While these wines retain the character of the wines I have made in the past they are slightly more refined and “tighter” if you will. It’s a progression for sure, and one that I am extremely happy with.”
